While the conference is over, the momentum from thought provoking discussion is not! To continue to use this website as a resource and guide for future thinking about engineering in the liberal arts context check out the new Resource tab at the top of the webpage. You will find articles written in the last 5 years about engineering education, presentation slides from participating conference speakers, and videos of talks and discussion that occurred. All video footage is now live at our accompanying YouTube site.
From May 26 to May 28, Macalester College will be hosting a workshop on Engineering Connections in the Liberal Arts College Environment, co-directed by Professors Dan Flath (Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics) and Diane P. Michelfelder (Philosophy). Participation in Engineering Connections is by invitation only. This workshop is made possible through a grant from the Alliance for the Advancement of Liberal Arts Colleges. Additional support has been provided by the National Science Foundation. The aim of this workshop is to assemble faculty members from AALAC and similar institutions to explore new curricular pathways to serve students interested in engineering as a life pursuit, and to expand knowledge of engineering among liberal arts college students in general.
